Old English Text Generator ๐๐ฉ๐๐ ๐จ๐ฉ๐ข๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ข๐ฏ
This free Old English text generator rewrites anything you type in medieval blackletter โ ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐จ๐ข ๐ฑ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ฐ โ using Unicode characters rather than a font file. That means you can copy the result straight into an Instagram bio, a Discord nickname, a TikTok caption or a clan tag and it keeps its shape. Four styles are produced at once: Fraktur, bold Fraktur, underlined and ornate.
Styles this Old English text generator produces
Every result below is plain text. Nothing is installed, and nothing is lost when you paste into a field that strips formatting โ the shapes are the characters themselves.
| Style | Example | Unicode | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fraktur | U+1D504 | The classic blackletter look. Five capitals (C, H, I, R, Z) live outside the main block as legacy letterlike symbols. | |
| Bold Fraktur | U+1D56C | Heavier strokes and a complete alphabet with no substitutions โ the safest choice. | |
| Underlined | U+0332 | Blackletter with a combining line under each character. | |
| Ornate | โ | Bold blackletter inside decorative brackets, the style used for clan tags and gaming names. |
How to use the Old English text generator
- Type or paste your text into the box above. Upper and lowercase are both converted; digits stay as they are.
- Compare the four styles. Bold Fraktur is the most legible at small sizes, which matters for usernames.
- Click โCopyโ next to the one you want.
- Paste it anywhere โ a bio, a nickname, a caption, a tattoo mock-up, a band poster or a Minecraft server name.
Where blackletter text works best
Gaming & clan tags
Blackletter is the default look for clan tags and guild names. The ornate style adds brackets without any extra symbols.
Instagram & TikTok
Use it for one line of a bio or a display name โ a whole caption in Fraktur is hard to read on a phone.
Band & event names
Metal, rap and tattoo aesthetics all lean on blackletter, and plain text works in places an image cannot go.
Pair it with huge text โNot for searchable text
Handles, product names and page titles should stay in normal letters so people can find them.
Old English text generator FAQ
Is this a real Old English font?
Not quite, and the distinction matters. A font is a file you install; these are Unicode characters that already exist on every device. They were added to the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block so mathematicians could write Fraktur variables, and people borrowed them because they look like medieval blackletter. The upside is that they survive copy and paste into an Instagram bio or a Discord name, which a real font never does.
Is Old English the same as blackletter, Gothic or Fraktur?
In everyday use, yes โ they all describe the same dense, angular lettering from medieval manuscripts and early printing. Strictly speaking, Old English is a language (the one Beowulf is written in), blackletter is the family of scripts, and Fraktur is one style within it. The generator produces Fraktur, which is what almost everyone means by the term.
Why do some capital letters look different?
Unicode encoded most Fraktur capitals in one run, but C, H, I, R and Z were already present elsewhere as โletterlike symbolsโ, so they were never duplicated. The generator swaps in those existing characters. They come from the same tradition and sit well together, though in a few fonts they are drawn slightly lighter. If that bothers you, use the Bold Fraktur result, which has a complete alphabet of its own.
Will it work for an Instagram or TikTok name?
Yes for bios, captions, comments and display names on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X/Twitter, Discord, Steam and most games. Some platforms restrict the @handle itself to plain letters โ if a field rejects the text, put the blackletter in the display name or bio instead.
Does it work with numbers and accented letters?
Unicode never encoded Fraktur digits, so 0โ9 pass through as ordinary numbers. Accented letters (รฉ, รฑ, รผ) and non-Latin scripts have no blackletter forms either and are left unchanged, which keeps the text readable rather than dropping characters.
Can people still search for my name if I use it?
No โ and that is the one real drawback. ๐ฌ is a different character from o as far as search is concerned, so a blackletter username will not match someone typing the plain spelling. Keep anything people need to find in normal letters.
Is this generator free?
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser, needs no account, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
